Regrettably we must advise our readers that 2007 Honda Prize laureate Dr. Philippe Mouret passed away on June 20 in his home town Lyon, France. He was 69. We extend our sincerest condolence on the loss of this man of great attainments. Our respect for what he accomplished in his life will not cease to grow.

YES Award in India Launched
This August, the Honda Foundation started accepting applications for the YES Award in India with help from Honda Motor India (HMI) and the Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT). India, the fast-growing economy since its liberalization in 1991, is the second beneficiary country following last year¡Çs Vietnam.
In recognition of future ecotechnology leaders in India, the YES Award program will grant them a diploma with a medal and money prize. All recipients will be eligible for additional fund to continue their research in a professional internship or graduate program in Japan.

¡½Our Councilor Dr. Nishino Passed Away¡½
We regret to inform that Dr. Fumio Nishino, Fellow Academic Advisor at National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies, passed away on Sunday, May 6, 2007. He was 71. Our councilor since 1992,
Dr. Nishino was especially instrumental in launching the YES Award program. We deeply thank his contribution, and pray sincerely for the repose of his soul.
