YES Award in India Launched This August, the Honda Foundation started accepting applications for the YES Award in India with help from Honda Motor India (HMI) and the Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT). India, the fast-growing economy since its liberalization in 1991, is the second beneficiary country following last year¡Çs Vietnam. In recognition of future ecotechnology leaders in India, the YES Award program will grant them a diploma with a medal and money prize. All recipients will be eligible for additional fund to continue their research in a professional internship or graduate program in Japan.

¡½Our Councilor Dr. Nishino Passed Away¡½ We regret to inform that Dr. Fumio Nishino, Fellow Academic Advisor at National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies, passed away on Sunday, May 6, 2007. He was 71. Our councilor since 1992, Dr. Nishino was especially instrumental in launching the YES Award program. We deeply thank his contribution, and pray sincerely for the repose of his soul.

In adition to the Honda Prize and conferences of various types for distinguished researchers and thinkers, we commenced a new program called the YES Award to aid young talent, which is a result of our reaffirmation of where we began and where we¡Çre heading. We hope all these programs will bring a new dimension to us and the society.
