We are executing various programs for young talented scientists and engineers in Asian countries to aim at the development of human resources to inherit and promote dissemination of ecotechnology.
We started the Honda Y-E-S (Young Engineer and Scientist's) Award program for young students to foster future leaders of science and technology fields in 2006 as a part of the Honda Foundation's 30th anniversary project. It is distinctive in that it is not restricted to tuition but may be used for a broad range of activities. Another very unique characteristic of the system is that its details are matched to the receiving country's needs and circumstances. Furthermore, the awardees can receive an additional grant, Y-E-S Award Plus, if they continue their study and training within certain period after the receipt of the Y-E-S Award, either via master's, doctoral, or study abroad programs in Japanese universities, or via internship programs in Japanese research organizations or private companies. We also hold the Honda Y-E-S Forum to engage young scientists and engineers from Japan and other Asian countries, including the Honda Y-E-S awardees, in discussion with experts in various fields, on issues in modern society examined from the perspective of young scientists and engineers.
