My overall experience was great. These past two and a half months were the “happiest time of my life”. My work was great. The city was awesome and the people better than all !! Many a times when I went on short trips, the local people were eager to help me out. I believe that the language barrier didn’t become so big a problem because of all the help that I received from my Japanese friends. The best part of living in Japan was the train system. My routine for the entire two and a half months was to work on the weekdays and explore Japan on weekends. This wonderful combination of the two wouldn’t have been possible with the superior train network.
Apart from the high-tech Tokyo city, I also visited a lot of places including the Hakone pass, Mt. Takao, Mt Fuji, Kyoto, Osaka and Hiroshima. All the places were unique and quite different from the tourist places in India. However Hiroshima was the best trip. It included the Shimanami-Kaido cycle trip which covered six islands with mesmerizing scenic beauty on the way.
Both research as well as the tour experience was awesome. I made the most of my time and it was a wonderful two and a half months. I thank Honda Foundation for this opportunity. It wouldn’t have been so great an experience without all the support from them.
