The Honda Y-E-S Award Plus and Honda Y-E-S Award Plus Expansion have been established with hopes to promote dissemination of ecotechnology among the young generations and at the same time to strengthen interaction and exchange among young people expected to lead science, technology and industry in their respective countries in Asia, including Japan. Since 2006, more than 100 students have come to Japan under the Honda Y-E-S Award Plus program. Honda Y-E-S Award Plus Expansion was newly introduced in 2017 and already have some applicants. They are involved in research at world-class universities, research institutes and business corporations located in Japan and are now active on the global stage.

Any Honda Y-E-S awardee becomes eligible for the Stage II, Honda Y-E-S Award Plus, an additional monetary award, if he/she enrolls in a masters or doctoral course, or takes an internship program at a university, research laboratory or private sector in Japan, within a certain period after receiving the Honda Y-E-S Award.

Any Honda Y-E-S Plus awardee, who has experience of internship in Japan and comes to Japan again for a master's or doctoral course, becomes eligible for Honda Y-E-S Award Plus Expansion, within a certain period after receiving the Honda Y-E-S Award.

Starting from 2013, The "Get-Together Meeting" was officially established to further promote mutual exchanges among the Y-E-S awardees who are studying or staying in Japan. This activity has been held once a year to enhance the unity of their community across generations and nationality.
