Y-E-S Award in Vietnam 2007 awardees, Mr. Than Tien Thinh and Ms. Phan Thi My Hanh got married.
They first met each other at the Y-E-S Award opportunity. After finishing their studies in Europe and in Vietnam respectively, they met again in 2010 and became close friends. They developed the good relationship which led to marriage. Honda Foundation was happy to hear this wonderful news where we happened to be a match-maker of this fresh couple through the Honda Y-E-S Award.

Regrettably we must advise our readers that 2007 Honda Prize laureate Dr. Philippe Mouret passed away on June 20 in his home town Lyon, France. He was 69.
We extend our sincerest condolence on the loss of this man of great attainments. Our respect for what he accomplished in his life will not cease to grow.

Y-E-S Award in India Launched
This August, the Honda Foundation started accepting applications for the Y-E-S Award in India with help from Honda Motor India (HMI) and the Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT). India, the fast-growing economy since its liberalization in 1991, is the second beneficiary country following last year’s Vietnam.
In recognition of future ecotechnology leaders in India, the Y-E-S Award program will grant them a diploma with a medal and money prize. All recipients will be eligible for additional fund to continue their research in a professional internship or graduate program in Japan.

―Our Councilor Dr. Nishino Passed Away―
We regret to inform that Dr. Fumio Nishino, Fellow Academic Advisor at National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies, passed away on Sunday, May 6, 2007. He was 71. Our councilor since 1992.
Dr. Nishino was especially instrumental in launching the Y-E-S Award program. We deeply thank his contribution, and pray sincerely for the repose of his soul.
