Jun 2022-May 2023

I joined Kumamoto University as a research student. I did the soil treatment research in the Environmental Electronic Laboratory, Graduate School of Science and Technology (GSST) under the supervision of Prof. Fumiaki Mitsugi. I learned the plasma treatment for the soil (indirect treatment) and optical wave microphone. My main research is the soil treatment with ozone which is generated by the surface barrier discharge. After the treatment, the soil’s pH is changed and nitrate level increased, which also depends on the time for storage, treatment time, ozone dose rate and so on. The aim of my current research is to use the treated soil instead of fertilizers which have the possibilities to cause the soil pollution and leave the residues of chemicals inside the plant products. My lab members and I developed the soil treatment system for 4 kg of soil for 120 minutes which is currently an optimum duration for the treatment. We also research the conditions of soil before and after treatment. I also had a great experience about the soil treatment research which is very important for the climate change and agriculture. Then I also like Kumamoto city which is a nice place to live and the weather is neither hot nor cold. Japanese people are very helpful and friendly. I also visited the famous places of Japan and I knew that Japan is a very safe and beautiful country.
