Internship in Japan
Japan is the most developed country in Asia. Despite low availability of natural resources and facing numerous earthquakes, typhoons, tsunami etc. on a regular basis, it has emerged as a technological and economic super power in the world. And when I landed in this island nation, I got the answer I was looking for. The hard work and dedication of the people and their sense of responsibility is an inspiration for all. I worked as a research intern at Hihara-Dang Laboratory at University of Tokyo, in the field of energy efficiency and advanced heat exchangers. This internship and the whole YES Scholarship program helped me in realizing the energy crisis and disparity in availability of this energy among different nations of the world and motivated me to work on this issue. I learned a lot during my stay in Japan. I worked on sophisticated experimental apparatus and conducted experiments with some of the brightest minds I’ve ever met. This internship was an enriching experience for me as a student and as a traveler. I visited many places in Tokyo and nearby areas. I got to know more and more about the Japanese culture and cuisine.
Honda foundation was very helpful throughout my stay. They organized get together of fellow Y-E-S awardees and a visit to their new car manufacturing facility, the Yorii plant and I could also meet Asimo, the Humanoid. Overall this was an experience of a lifetime and I could not ask for more. Thank you Honda Foundation & thank you Japan. I would definitely, visit Japan again.
