Internship in Japan gave me two wonderful opportunities. Firstly, I could experience how effectively research is carried out at a leading institution like University of Tokyo and get hands¬-on training on world class equipment in the laboratory. Secondly, I got a chance to explore Japan to the fullest with experiences ranging from climbing Mt. Fuji, riding on thrilling roller coasters in Fuji Q Highlands, having a bath in traditional Japanese Onsen, interacting with Sumo and many more.
Japanese people are really very kind-hearted and helpful. All the members at Kaneko-Yamasaki Laboratory made my stay in Japan very comfortable: be it research work, planning travel for weekends, arranging (and sometimes even cooking) special vegetarian food for me. The get-together organized by Honda Foundation gave us a chance to network and build a bond with all the awardees from various countries like Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos. We also visited the Honda Sayama Factory where we learned about the cutting-edge technology which goes into making the Honda products such a success.
To summarize my internship in Japan, it gave me a very valuable global exposure, an opportunity to perform research with world-class facilities and a chance to explore the beautiful country of Japan along with its wonderful culture and lovely people.
