During three months in Japan, I gained not only the research experiences but also the experiences of Japanese culture and lifestyle. I did my research internship at University of Tsukuba, in Food nanotechnology laboratory. My research focused on Food emulsion and thermal stability of different emulsifiers. Emulsion is widely applied in sauces, canned beverages, functional food, dairy products etc… It was very great chance for me to learn about this technology in food as I have never done it before. Apart from using cutting edge equipment and techniques, I also learned to work with my colleagues in the laboratory and understood how the Japanese work. I noticed that at work place, they work hard and so focus on what they are doing so that they can achieve their research. More interestingly, there was a seminar every week; thus the members can share their research results and get the comments and suggestion from Professors and other members. Hence, I learned that it is how many technologies were discovered by Japanese and a reason why Japan is an advance technology country. On the other hand, we also had some fun time together. We had some gathering parties with all members at the Laboratory and other laboratories. It was very great time to get to know more about each other.
Beside research, I explored some Japanese culture, especially Japanese culinary and touristic places. I’ve been to Tokyo and Kyoto, thus I can see the great skyscrapers, for example Sky tree, and other modern infrastructures as well as the ancient temples of Japan, for example Kinkakuji and Ginkakuji temple. They amazed me so much. Moreover, I did enjoy the Japanese food such as Sushi (well, sure it is the most famous dish of Japan), Odon noodle, rice with miso soup , Okonomiyaki and other dishes.
More importantly, I had the great opportunity to join Honda Y-E-S plus gathering and visited Honda Factory, Yorii factory ( the new factory). I was so excited to visit Honda factory and see how Honda cars are assembled by smart robots. In addition, it was the very great opportunity to meet other Honda Y-E-S awardees from different countries such as India, Laos, and Vietnam as well as the directors of Honda Foundation. We had discussed on what we are doing and shared some experiences in our respective skills. I gratefully thank to Honda Foundation for organizing and sponsoring the Honda Y-E-S award. As the matter of fact, being a Honda Y-E-S awardee is an immense encouragement and motivation for me to tirelessly pursue my dream in science and technology for human and environment prosperity.
Indeed, I had a very wonderful time in Japan and gained more experiences for both my professional and personal skill. I am willing to come back to Japan again to pursue my Ph.D or work for a few years.
