The overall experience in Japan was immensely fulfilling, professionally and personally. My first impression of Japan, as I landed at Narita airport was characterized by the meticulousness in maintaining order, the attention to detail and the unfailingly polite and helpful people. Over the course of my stay, I learnt at a pace that I could not have imagined before, and more importantly, lived in a way that will surely go down as an experience that refined my worldview. Needless to say, the trips to Hiroshima, Kyoto, Osaka and Nikko, the ascent up Mt. Fuji and the subsequent experience of the rising sun, and the multiplicity of Kitkats were wondrous experiences that complimented the technological wonders like ASIMO that Japan is so well-known for, along with its much exalted national qualities of politeness, perseverance, and resilience – all of which were constantly reinforced in our own selves over the course of the 10 weeks we spent in this beautiful nation.
