The 11 weeks in Japan was one of the most challenging and thrilling time of life. I had an awesome research experience while working in one of the premier labs involved in rescue robotics and got to see people working with passion and sincerity. Japanese work culture in terms of amount of work done seems to look as strict as it goes but the interesting fact is that it was supported by the people themselves and not the rules and everyone who comes to Japan gets absorbed in it. I will always remember the technical discussions I had with my lab mates which helped me grow as a greater lover of my field, the fun times I had with my friends which being from about 10 different countries made me feel that I had gone on a world tour, the beautiful scenery and the fresh air of Kyoto which I experienced everyday! One of the things that surprised me the most was that people from different countries and religions were living in harmony with each other and that everyone was attracted by Japan’s culture. It was interesting to see Japan’s centuries old culture reflected in the parades on festivals and trying to use chopsticks! and of Course for a manga fan like me, Akihabara was like a dream! The Japanese people were very helpful and their convenience stores and transportation system were very efficient. I will not forget that I used to get motivated even while using public transport at mornings and nights to see such a large population commuting between workplace and home being taken care of efficiently. It was thanks to the Honda’s generous grant that I was able to work and enjoy to my heart’s content.  I made some bonds which will remain life long. I experienced ups and downs of research, happiness when even small part of your work bears fruit and had a life experience which was beyond expectation and rewarding.
