I really enjoyed my stay in Japan in tern of educational exposure as well as the cultural experience. My internship was in University of Tokyo popularly known as Todai. Todai is the most popular and leading university in Japan. The topic of my internship was related to my interest in vehicles so I enjoyed working on the project a lot. My professor is also very renowned in Japan so that was a plus point.
Everyone in lab was hardworking so it always kept me inspired. I got a lot of support from my fellow lab members. We also enjoyed outside the lab and had fun together during night drive and early morning sushi at Tsukiji. I also got to know about other technical research in Todai during the annual open campus event of the university. I also met a lot of foreign students during Tanabata festival organized by Todai.
Apart from educational experience I enjoyed travelling in Japan a lot. The transportation was easily available. I liked my climbing adventure on Fuji San the most. I can still remember the sunrise that I saw from the summit. It was the most memorable experience of my life. I also went to Osaka via Shinkansen; the fastest ground travel ever. I really enjoyed the cultural capital of Japan: Kyoto; the temples in Kyoto are very nice places to visit. I also experienced the Gion Matsuri; biggest festival of Japan. I really wanted to see the Hanabi in Tokyo but my internship was over by that time. I will definitely enjoy it next year.
The food in Japan was very delicious. I am a non-vegetarian so finding food was very easy for me. I would say Tokyo is heaven for non-vegetarians. I tried Ramen first time and fell in love with the dish. I tried almost every Tonkotsu Ramen shop in Tokyo. The best one I like is Senrigaan near the Komaba campus of Todai. The Sake in Japan is delicious; I especially liked the Nihonshu.
The people in Japan are very helpful too. So even though I had trouble during the stay, I got a lot of help from them. Everyone as well as everything is punctual in Japan, especially the trains. Almost all the systems in Japan are digitalized. The garbage recycling is lot of efficient. Everyone is honest and hardworking. Even being technologically so advanced, Japan is still nourishing its vast heritage and culture. This is something you don’t seen anywhere else on globe.
I really enjoyed my internship in Japan and I am eager to go back to Japan.
